Terms of Service

1. The services

JAST is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that expands short trigger phrases you configure into longer text, inline, in any application. To do this, JAST requires operating-system-level permissions (such as a keyboard hook on Windows, or Accessibility and Input Monitoring on macOS). Granting those permissions is required for the Services to function, and you are responsible for granting them through your operating system.

2. License grant and restrictions

Subject to these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use JAST on up to two devices at a time, for your own personal or internal business use.

A one-time v1 Lifetime license, where previously purchased, is perpetual for the v1 major version: once purchased, it continues to work, including v1 updates, without any additional fee. A future v2 major version, if released, is a separate product and a separate purchase — a v1 license does not entitle you to v2. Where you have a recurring (Monthly or Yearly) subscription instead, your access continues only for as long as your subscription remains active and paid, as described in “Payments, billing, and renewal” below.

You agree not to, and not to permit anyone else to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble JAST, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with license or device-activation enforcement
• Resell, sublicense, rent, or lease your license to a third party
• Use JAST to build a competing product

We reserve all rights in JAST not expressly granted to you. This license does not sell you JAST or any copy of it; it grants you the right to use it under these Terms.

3. Your account and local data

The snippets, placeholders, macros, notes, and settings you create in JAST are stored locally, in a database on your device. We do not have access to them, cannot see them, and are not able to recover them if you lose access to your device or uninstall the application without a backup of your own. You are responsible for backing up anything you want to keep. If we introduce an optional sync feature in the future, its own terms and our Privacy Policy will be updated before it is enabled.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes, and agree not to:

• Install or use JAST on a device without the knowledge and consent of that device's primary user. JAST requires the same category of operating-system access a keylogger has; using it to monitor someone else's device without their consent is not a permitted use, regardless of local law, and may itself be unlawful.
• Use the Services to violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party
• Use the Services to transmit malware or interfere with the operation of the Services
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services or related systems
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation in connection with the Services

We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of this section, as described in “Term and termination” below.

5. Payments, billing, and renewal

We currently offer a Monthly subscription plan, billed monthly, and a Yearly subscription plan, billed annually; custom or volume licensing is available for teams by contacting us. The v1 Lifetime plan, previously billed once, is no longer offered for new purchases, but every v1 Lifetime license already issued keeps working as described above. Prices are shown on jastapp.com/pricing and may change going forward — a price change will not affect a period you have already paid for.

Payment is processed by a third-party payment processor; we do not receive or store your full card number. By providing payment information, you authorize us (through our payment processor) to charge it for the plan you selected, including, for a recurring plan, each renewal until you cancel.

Recurring plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you retain access until then. If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend access to paid features until payment succeeds or you cancel.

You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchase, other than taxes on our net income.

6. Refunds

Our Refund Policy describes when a purchase is refundable and what happens when it is refunded. In short, a Monthly subscription can be cancelled anytime but is not refundable for a partial month, a Yearly subscription is refundable within 30 days of activation, and a v1 Lifetime purchase is not refundable. To request a refund, contact us through our Contact page. We will honor any refund right required by the law that applies to you.

7. Beta and pre-release access

We may invite people who have signed up for updates to try pre-release or closed-testing versions of JAST. Pre-release features are provided “as is,” may be incomplete or unstable, may change or be removed without notice, and are not covered by any availability commitment.

8. Intellectual property

JAST, the JAST name and logo, and the Services (excluding your own local data described in Section 3) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that ownership to you.

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or feature requests, you grant us the right to use them for any purpose, without any obligation or payment to you.

9. Third-party services

Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor under its own terms, which apply to your payment in addition to these Terms. The Services may otherwise link to third-party websites we do not control and are not responsible for.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every application or operating-system configuration.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, JAST will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify us against any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Services, including any use that violates Section 4 (“Acceptable use”).

13. Term and termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use the Services. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, including revoking a license activation, if you materially breach these Terms, including the restrictions in Sections 2 and 4. You may stop using the Services and uninstall JAST at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 8 through 12 and 15 through 17 — continue to apply after your access ends.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and for material changes we may provide additional notice, such as a notice on jastapp.com. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operation of the Services, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country or state of residence apply and cannot be waived by contract.

16. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
